With one examination down and one to go, there's still time for some studying. Naturally that will immediately autumn to the wayside in favour of Valentine'southward Day, lxxx's pop culture references, and more than fan service than an air conditioner repair shop.

I think my biggest problem with We Never Learn is that information technology's a perfectly fine read in its genre, but for a one-act, it's not actually that funny virtually of the time. So I was pretty excited to get a couple of good laughs out of this i.

I call up my biggest problem with We Never Learn is that it's a perfectly fine read in its genre, but for a comedy, it'south not really that funny nigh of the time. So I was pretty excited to get a couple of good laughs out of this one.

First, every bit the girls are studying for their 2nd test, we get a series of fun transitions and also every possible variation on failure being thrown out at our hapless heroines. Ugata's dad loudly watching a samurai film that heavily features ronin is really great.

Second, in a sequence that I liked considering it manages to put a lot of genuine heart into the proceedings, Nariyuki has prepared 1 final notebook for everybody that comes through for them when they need it most. That includes Mafuyu, despite her being a instructor, and Nariyuki'southward notebook for her is a good joke (perfect capper in the omake likewise).

There's besides some good storytelling during the Valentine's department, though the whole platonic chocolate affair is very "cough cough". Nariyuki turns out to love clay inexpensive store chocolate, but this is actually used to pull off a pretty wonderful reveal and it segues into 1 hell of an image to leave the book on. I'm not ane to bother picking sides in a volume like this, but it's hard not to afterward a story like that…

(amusingly this was the exact same thought I had last book and almost the exact same person, equally it turns out)

Naturally there's some dodgier stuff likewise. The big Kominami chapter is a real snooze of nonsense this time effectually, very typical serial stuff for her, unfortunately. After the hilarious one they thought upwards last time, this one'south comparatively lame.

The first chapter featuring Mafuyu and Nariyuki ends upwardly existence more than fan service than fun (and whatever to fan service, that office's fine if it'southward what you're subsequently) - it calls out a very specific romance trope (similar, information technology literally calls it out) but then doesn't do anything interesting with it.

The incredibly wheezy hypnosis gags also come dorsum for some other round, much to my dismay, but I have to admit that they at least use it as a truly bizarre launchpad (read: excuse) for an Urusei Yatsura homage. At least in that location's that, and I experience similar the manner the fan service is done in that story is a quiet 'screw yous' to the reader, who even upon seeing the words 'Urusei Yatsura' probably has a very specific idea of what the fan service is (and yet…).

So, a real mixed handbag only it was the most hostage stuff that actually hit for me rather than the comedy. After sixteen volumes it was inevitable that nosotros'd see story move but at the very finish, but incredibly it feels like some of those moments were worth waiting for.

3.v stars, no rounding; We Never Larn earned a 4 star last fourth dimension, only there were barely any duds concluding time, not then much here. Honestly, the series every bit a whole is pretty disposable as far as my own tastes go. Fortunately, it's got occasional flashes of brilliance, especially this volume, that remind me why I've stuck with it in the starting time place.

All together, at the same time, they each look at the posted results and... well, you volition simply have to read this to find out! I volition tell you, it will bring tears to your eyes! And so, later on the dust settles... a true confession of love! Who? Where? When? Buy this manga and see for yourself! BTW, I'm still waiting for the teased Nosotros Never Learn X Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs crossover!!!
